“Elegance is not about being noticed, it’s about being remembered.” — Giorgio Armani
Born in Piacenza, in northern Italy in 1934, Giorgio Armani started his career in fashion as a window dresser for the Rinascente, a famous department store in Milan. He was hired by Nino Cerruti as a fashion designer after finishing his military service and dropping out of college.
He launched his business Giorgio Armani S.p.A (menswear) with his friend and business partner, Sergio Galeotti, in 1975. Armani is famous for his innovative designs. The production of Armani’s luxury clothing soon expanded to the United States and other countries. Along with numerous lines for both men and women, Armani designs for Le Collezioni, Giorgio Armani underwear and swimwear, accessories, Armani Junior, Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani. To commemorate his 40th anniversary in Milan in April 2015, Giorgio Armani launched the website Armani.com and #Atribute, a campaign that lets the public learn about the people, themes, and things that have become an essential part of the brand throughout the years. #Atribute, which comes from combining the words Armani and tribute, will give his fans an opportunity to become part of the history, by sharing their Armani experiences, and using the hashtag #Atribute.
