Giambattista Valli is an Italian designer who started in couture in Rome in the studio of Roberto Capucci as an assistant. He worked for Emanuel Ungaro in Paris from 1988 to 2001, where he was in charge of Ungaro’s ready-to-wear division and Creative Director for the the Ungaro Fever line.
In 2004 Giambattista Valli opened his own house in Paris. His label includes a haute couture collection and a ready-to-wear line. He has also introduced a youth-oriented, lower-priced label called Giamba.
Giambattista Valli believes that couture has morphed into the equivalent of collecting art.
