Christopher Bailey, CEO of Burberry

Christopher Bailey was hired as Burberry’s design director in 2001. Bailey was promoted to creative director in 2004 and Chief Creative Officer in November 2009.  When Burberry’s CEO, Angela Ahrendths, left for Apple in 2014 Christopher Bailey became her successor.

Christopher Bailey’s previous position was senior designer at Gucci, working with Tom Ford.

Burberry was established by Thomas Burberry in 1956.  Christopher Bailey, who now is the Chief Creative and chief executive officer of Burberry, is responsible for creating and delivering the company’s global vision and business strategy. Bailey has won numerous fashion awards and is the recipient of several honorary doctorates.

Burberry pioneered Runway Made to Order – with items available to order the moment they debut on the catwalk. The live-streaming app Periscope live-streamed the Burberry Los Angeles extravaganza in Griffith Park in 2015
